Firefox 4 eliminates the status bar from the bottom of the browser window in favor of a new toolbar located at the bottom of the window. This new toolbar, with the ID 'addon-bar', is a standard XUL toolbar; add-ons can insert content into it, and the user can drag buttons into it while customizing their toolbars.

Rated 2 out of 5 stars by on Sept. 29, 2017 I was very happy with 'The Addon Bar (Restored)' until it stopped working in Firefox versions 55 & 56. Today I have found an extension that is better than 'The Addon Bar (Restored). It's called 'Status-4-Evar'.
It is compatible with FF 55.0.3; and it restores the TRUE status bar that predated the 'Add-on bar' and offered so much more info and flexibility than the so-called 'add-on bar'. I haven't tested it in Firefox 56.0, because, frankly, FF 56.0 is pure junk! With FF 55.0.3, Mozilla finally was getting back to being the outstanding browser that I came to love and depend upon, fixing some of the bugs that were in FF 55.0. I was hopeful that Firefox 56.0 would be even better; but it is probably the worst browser I've seen in years for hanging, freezing, crashing, and sucking memory dry of all of the browsers ever.
So, until Mozilla corrects the myriad of bugs in FF 56.0, I will stay with version 55.0.3 -- and my new favorite extension that restores the status bar to what it should be--a status bar. Goodbye, Geek-in-Training. I wish you well. For those who want an actual status bar rather than a makeshift substitute, I recommend 'Status-4-Evar', available at: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/?src=ss. Rated 5 out of 5 stars by on Sept. 5, 2017 It was a great add-on until Mozilla updated Firefox to v. Now the add-on bar (restored) is not compatible with Firefox.
Before Firefox did away with the 'add-on bar' (when Firefox still had it, it was called the 'status bar'), I used it extensively for several purposes. As soon as the 'Add-on bar (restored)' was made available, I jumped on it, and I've been using it ever since. I sincerely hope that you update this add-on to be compatible with the new version. It's my understanding that they've changed a few things internally in Firefox's newest version. In my opinion, every new version update lately is inferior to the one before, making Firefox slowly and steadily a lousy browser. That makes me sad, as well; because I have used Firefox ever since Netscape was acquired by AOL. It has always been the best and fastest browser around, and it worked well with add-ons and plugins.
